Acting for Musical Theater

Ages 9 – 17

Must have taken at least 1 theater class, at Harmonia or elsewhere, or demonstrated prior acting experience.

Acting is equally as important as singing in musical theater productions. In this class, students will develop acting techniques emphasizing strong character work, improvisation, and physical movement to improve their performance in a musical theatre setting. Students will practice developing monologues, learn to work with a partner/partners in a scene, and workshop any audition pieces. Students will be able to do mock auditions and get real feedback from a professional who has assisted in judging auditions for Montgomery County high school musical productions. A presentation of open scenes from musicals at the end will best showcase the amazing choices made by each actor during the course.
